Irish Dance is known mainly through its association with shows such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. For ten years we have been thrilled with the spectacle of these shows without being aware that many of the dancers in the shows have been dancing since childhood.

In some countries, Irish Dancing is something that adults do to have fun and occasionally do a local performance to entertain their neighbours and friends.

In Ireland and other countries that have been doing Irish Dancing for a long time thousands of children take part in this fun and entertaining dance form. Like all dance styles it is good for children to take part and learn the many aspects and disciplines which benefit them in many different ways. Balance, fitness, social skills, improved attention and focus are just some of the benefits of dance for children.

It is hoped that Irish Dance will be attempted by hundreds of children in Nordrhein Westfalen to raise their awareness and participation in this fun and exciting dance style.
